Pumpkin Festival!

Last night I went for a walk to meet some of my friends and a dog at the Sorauren Pumpkin Festival. On Nov 1st, the entire neighbourhood brings their Jack-o-Lanterns here and lays them along the path. When they are lit it is quite something! By the end of the night, there was well over 500 pumpkins there.

What orginally started as free pumpkin recycling spot has turned into a yearly gathering!  Here are a few photos I took:
NERD ALERT!

Spooky Pumpkins!

Very impressive! a Pumpkin crab and a Pumpkin centipede!

Cannibal pumpkins!
Potter. Of course!
And of course today when I walked past they were all gone!

Some past projects...

Here are some projects I completed in Fall 2009:

Flit 'n Float
Completed September 22, 2009
(rav link)
I really enjoyed working on this project, there was a ton of charts but I found the ruffle came out really lovely. I only had one skein, so I had to scrimp towards the end, and just barely had enough yarn to finish. My blocking wasn't too successful, it tends to crumple back up after wearing it for a few hours. I've gotten lots of nice compliments for it.

Vernal Equinox Shawl Surprise
Completed September 29, 2009
(rav link)

The Vernal Equinox Shawl Surprise. My first full scale lace shawl. I don't think I will do surprise patterns anymore, as I wasn't too happy with the final result of this. But it's comfortable, and it looks very pretty. I find the patterns for each round don't really related to the others. Unfortunately I don't haven't enough foam squares to block it out, so I know it will be huge. It was definitely a challenge to complete it. It ended up in a bag in the corner of my living room for about six months before I finally pulled it out again, and finished it at the end of September.

wurm
Completed October 31, 2009
(rav link)
So I had a ton of this Zara solid that I bought on a whim, without really looking at the yarn. And then I needed a hat, ASAP. So I made this loverly little wurm hat. Turns out, this yarn isn't great with holding it's shape, so it's a less then stellar hat.

More tomorrow...
